Actually latitude, longitude and ambient light (exposure) is set by the theme and can be changed in themes or dynamically by Theme Mixer. The code has been completely rewritten and heavily optimized.
While Render It! gives you control of render processing and Theme Mixer gives you control of themes, Play It! gives you control of game simulation in terms of game and time speed (day/night cycle) and also weather effects. It has many similarities to Ultimate Eyecandy and is for intended as a replacement in companion with Render It! and Theme Mixer.
